Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: Consistency Group: None Status: Closed Resolution: Works For Me >Priority: 6 Private: No Submitted By: actuator (actuator) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Always goes out of sync Initial Comment: Every time I've used Saros, one or more of the files eventually stop responding to changes by the other driver. Often I can see their cursor moving but no characters are modified and any edits I make are not reflected on their screen or disk. I think a system that hashed files and compared with other users then showed a prompt to merge if the hashes were different would be a quick solution to this problem since I imagine the underlying synchronisation system is probably very complex. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: A. Haferburg (ahaferburg) Date: 2010-09-30 06:26 Message: Alright I'm going to close this now, since we still don't know how to reproduce it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2010-06-30 13:59 Message: The latest update does seem to have fixed P2P connection though. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2010-06-30 13:48 Message: The sync icon lit up for one user once but apart from that we're still having major synchronisation issues. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: A. Haferburg (ahaferburg) Date: 2010-06-26 02:26 Message: We did some changes to the network layer in the current release 10.6.25.r2236. Did that help? Also please note that it can take 10-30 seconds for Saros to realize that there's an inconsistency. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2010-06-12 09:24 Message: I'm on Vista, Eclipse Galileo using 10.5.28.r2173. P2P also isn't being used (it's not working despite having ports forwarded correctly and testing). I think it's falling back to "IBB". ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2010-06-12 02:44 Message: This did not solve the problem. The inconsistency icon refused to light up no matter what we did. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: A. Haferburg (ahaferburg) Date: 2010-06-11 06:28 Message: Did that solve your problem? We should probably add some sort of notification when an inconsistency was detected. The inconsistency synchronization might get overlooked by other users as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2010-06-10 04:43 Message: Thank you, I hadn't noticed this, I'll try it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: A. Haferburg (ahaferburg) Date: 2010-06-10 02:24 Message: Did you try the inconsistency button in the "Shared Project Session" view? It's shaped like a warning triangle and should light up whenever there's an inconsistency (you might have to wait a couple of seconds). It actually works just like you describe, by creating and comparing checksums. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: actuator (actuator) Date: 2010-06-09 09:25 Message: I found I can resync a file by saving a copy with a new name, deleting the old version and renaming the copy. This is tedious to use but maybe it helps find the solution. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=843359&aid=3013819&group_id=167540 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
