Summary: Can add users from other jabber server, but never invite the

Initial Comment:
If I add [email protected], while connected as
[email protected] i can add that user.

But since the [email protected] ist always shown as offline (even though i am
online with that id) the user cannot be invited to a session...

If it's not possible to work together with users from different XMPP/jabber
networks, i should not be able to add them at all (with a message explaining
why).

The DiscoveryManager does not react on connection/disconnection of the user on
the jabber.org server. Interestingly, the saros instance connected with
[email protected] DOES see the presence information from
[email protected] and can even test the data connection or
send an invitation and can actually build up a session which is broken for
[email protected] (no presence information received at all,
not decorations etc.).

Message:
There is a problem in the current code. The packet listener for the ack,
packet is installed after the invitation is send. This is a common problem
in the STF regression. Our network layer / inviting process has many issues
but this are not easy fixes. I had logs were the response was send but
surprisingly not received.

Correction: saros does not with jabber.org at all, it doesn't seem to be
inter-server-problems...

I cannot connect two jabber.org users
[email protected]
[email protected]

The "invitation acknowledgement" problem..

The invitation works when [email protected] is inviting [email protected]
But not the other way round...

Message:
There are still major issues concerning inter-server-communication. If
there are known issues with inter-server-connection, the user needs to be
warned about this. I know there is an information panel hidden in a wizard
somewhere, that no one reads, or that is already forgotten, when this issue
occurs, which does not help at all.

When trying to connect [email protected] and [email protected] (should
work...), the instance using the jabber.org account does not receive the
invitation acknowledgement fast enough (DSL 16.000!!). The host thus
silently closes the session. The peer receives the invitation message and
can actually accept it, and will enter a dead session, with the host (which
is actually not there) and can chat with himself alone... The host does not
know of this.

Btw: i cannot try jabber+gmail because i cannot get Google Talk working. It
says my login credentials are wrong, whereas i can easily login with the
exact same data to any other google service...

But i somehow doubt that it would work flawlessly..

Message:
The Saros XMPP Server has some restrictions. Using a GTalk and a Jabber.org
acoount works well.
