You can type your sourceforge password into the blank CVS shell window, but you'd be better off getting a more recent version of TortoiseCVS (it's called 'unstable', but as it only has the same fundamental problems as the 'stable' version, it's perfectly OK). The 'unstable' version has a much better SSH implementation, and pops up a dialog, with keyboard focus, into which you can type your password.
