Sure, but it's supposed to recognise an url with minimal specifications. For example, www.google.com is interpreted as http://www.google.com (not ftp://www.google.com or any other protocol).
...so I think login:[EMAIL PROTECTED] should be interpreted as http://login:[EMAIL PROTECTED].
