There's a bunch of good stuff (keyboard shortcuts, searches, etc.) that most new users don't know about, and something like this might be helpful. I don't know how many times I've been using a program I've used for years and suddenly discovered a great feature that I had no idea was there. As long as it's easy to turn off for those who don't like it, I don't see it being a problem.
