Yes and yes. I don't know how the site update stuff works at the moment,
though... When you commit site files, how long does it take before it
propagates to dqsd.net? Or is that a manual process?

It should be pretty simple to use MSXML's asynchronous loading to handle
the version check instead.
I can try and build an asynchronous version.js tonight.
