Ah rats I didnt get the full intent of this post, when I sent my last reply..  I am not aware of any specific reason why convertStylesToInline would be used..

more effective code in searches requiring those styles applied:

@import url("search.css");
</style>
    

That looks reasonable to me, I don't know what benefit the inline styles
bring here. Comment above convertStylesToInline says:

	// stylesheet directly.

Does that ring a bell with anyone?
