Yes, it's feasibly possible, but no effort has been made to develop this
feature. Something you might try is mapping the URL to a drive in your
computer (Q:) then using NTFS junction points to also map that drive to
the "localsearches" folder. Do this through the "Computer Management"
MMC and select the "Disk Management" plugin. Then select the drive,
right click on the drive and select "change drive letter and path" then
"add" and "mount in an ntfs folder" and browse to the EMPTY
"localsearches" folder, click "ok".

And yes, this will work... But it would be quite a bit more work than
simply scheduling a download of that remote folder every "x" hours or
once a day or something. That's much easier and doesn't require 1)
NT-based OS, 2) NTFS primary partition, 3) digging through the guts of
your system configuration.
