I think you dont have a clean install in place.. Its up to windows to figure out the default, and spawn it. What is probably happening is that opera isnt fully declared as your default browser. Check in my computer->tools->folder options->file types to ensure the htm, html, http, htw, htx, and http protocol types are set to call opera.. If not either set them by hand or load opera and see if if you can get it to re-declare itself as the default browser for these filetypes..
