which beta 2.5.8?... the latest is beta 8.  the reason i ask is there is a preference now for how to invoke the calendar (either by right-click or by double click).

/* Calendar start method.
*  0 = right click
*  1 = double click
*  default is 0
*/
calStart=0;

but there was one rev of a 2.5.8 beta that defaulted to double click by mistake.

here is what i would try... sorry if you already have.

1. close DQSD toolbar
2. log off and on.
3. back up any preference files for dqsd.
4. uninstall toolbar via control panel
5. make sure quick search directory is removed from program files
6. log off/on
7. install 2.5.8 beta 8

it's worth a shot.

I have tried both 2.5.7 and latest 2.5.8 beta and I have tried changing the showbutton in the localprefs.js file, as well. Nothing I do in either preferences.js or localprefs.js seems to have an effect on the toolbar button. I have tried changing other settings, and they seem to work (I can turn off the time display, for example). I have also noticed the right-click calendar doesnt work, either I get a general context menu, instead.

Terrell,

Which version of DQSD are you using?  If it is one of the 2.5.8 betas, then you should have a localprefs.js.  The settings here will override the settings in preferences.js.  So if you have a localprefs.js check what showbutton= is set to there.

The menu popup button does not appear on the toolbar, regardless of what I set the showbutton= setting to in the preferences.js file.  It was working before I had to repair my win2000 installation.  I had some trouble with my computer I have win2000 SP2, got an error (couldnt find pci.sys), needed to do a repair windows did that. Then I started getting scripting errors for the search bar and it wouldnt work.  Ran through all the win 2000/ office XP updates from Microsoft to repair anything the windows repair overwrote, downloaded the latest VM and Java stuff, and that seemed to fix the scripting errors, but now the >> menu button will not appear.  Any suggestions?
