The Search function built in Windows can search 1,300 MSWord.doc files with no problem.
In Windows 2000 and XP, you'll find it at: Start >> Search >> For Files or Folders Put your search criteria in the field marked "Containing Text" (the most important step) Define the folder in field marked "Look in:" Press "Search Now" In Windows 95, 98, Me: Same as above, except you need to go to the "Advanced Search" Tab on the search window. The real issue is performing this 13,000 times for 13,000 different words. The only way I can possibly imagine searching for any of 13,000 words is through a program - of just about any language. It's definitely not a task for a search engine. Hope that helps, Dan -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, May 29, 2002 6:02 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [DQSD-Users] (no subject) I have a project that requires me to search for 13,000 text items within 1,300 MSWord.doc files (located in a single folder). The text items are in an Excel sheet. Is the search engine equiped to define the search location to a desktop and to auto search a list and document its findings to a table? I know it is much to ask Thank You [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________________________ Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference August 25-28 in Las Vegas -- http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm _______________________________________________ Dqsd-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dqsd-users http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_id=8601 _______________________________________________________________ Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference August 25-28 in Las Vegas -- http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm _______________________________________________ Dqsd-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dqsd-users http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_id=8601
