I guess NSIS can fetch the info in the registry. For instance, winamp's plug-ins (like AVS presets at http://www.winamp.com/plugins/browse.jhtml?categoryName=AVS+presets) are exe's built with NSIS that "guess" where winamp's AVS directory is located - probably by reading a value in the registry. Or another solution : the way you install Winamp Skins. See a very detailed explanation at http://www.winamp.com/nsdn/winamp2x/dev/skins/zip.jhtml, "history" section. The latter seems more powerful though (e.g. it can register dll's) MLL > guess we could > have it prompt for the default install, and have the user > enter the actual > install if it was different, but I'd prefer that it be automatic. > > > so does ZipCentral (cool freeware zip util) > http://zipcentral.iscool.net/ > > > > > I can confirm that zipmagic allows the user to specify > > > a target directory for the extraction, and the user is > > > asked to confirm/override the default target directory > > > when the archive is unpacked... > > > > _______________________________________________________________ > > Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference > August 25-28 in Las Vegas -- http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm > > _______________________________________________ > Dqsd-users mailing list > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dqsd-users > http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_id=8601 > _______________________________________________________________ Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference August 25-28 in Las Vegas -- http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm _______________________________________________ Dqsd-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dqsd-users http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_id01
