It's because 'mac' is defined as shortcut to "Convert between a router MAC
address format to a switch MAC address format."  (Type "? mac").

To get around this, either explicitly specify google:

gg mac

or fire up the help/about screen and under 'Functions' uncheck the checkbox next
to 'mac' to disable it and close the window.  You should just be able to enter
'mac' now to fire up a google search for 'mac'.
