DQSD relies on exposed calls from both Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer - anything affecting either could cause DQSD to suffer with it, or - if something happens with either that causes DQSD to have issues those issues could be bubbled up to affect the other one. Looking through the support information on the last few patches and listening to the discussion here regarding the problems some of us are facing, it appears that this problem is related to the showhelp() bug in IE that relates to each of the IE Security Rollups. This 'bug' is not visible by everyone with the same OS since the help control is updated by dozens of different application, and each of us does not have the same software configuration. I tried performing the Help Control update, as recommended in the support page ( http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=325192 ) but it would not install because my 'system does not need this update.' Perhaps it is related to something else we all share - like connectivity software or something. Here's a short list of things that I run that either most people probably don't or it's rare enough that not everyone with similar OS would be running them: BitTorrent Daemon Tools IIS Palm HotSync Manager RASPPPoE ZoneAlarm Pro 4 I think that if it *isn't* an IE or Windows patch then it must be related to one of these.
