Try putting a ClearErrors at line 311 after the last
Delete line so we're sure we don't have any errors
left over from trying to delete non-existent files.

If that doesn't help, can you put MessageBox before
each group of registry writes and IfError checks and
see which group it's failing in?  Before we just
happily went on our installation way without ever
checking if the appropriate registry settings were
actually written so I think what we're doing now is an
improvement we just need to figure out which registry
settings are the problem on Win98...

I don't have any idea on the jumpy dos box - very
little has checked in the core dll and all that's
changed in the installer is checking for registry
write errors and which XP theme is installed (only
reads a 
couple of registry settings if available).
