Thanks for the detailed response. btw, thanks also for the info re my 
question re tinypic, I guess I was hoping for a miracle there :-)

I only want it to open in a new window for a particular search not at 
all for all searches....i was wondering there might be some way of 
passing a parameter (-new-window) in a search to the default browser 
(firefox) via some shortcut for the search...
