"The report you requested, Sir." A manilla colored folder is placed on the desk
in front of Tristan. "Recounting the events of the last robbery."
Tristan nods. "A witness's account of the crime I presume?"
"Indeed." The slightly older man tilts his head to the side to regard the Captain as
he speaks. "Fourth this month.. and so far as we know it has been by the same group of
people. Obviously, because of the lack of evidence, we've gathered that they know what
they are doing. Well enough to be able to cover up afterwards."
Alcornal's Captain sighs as he sits back up in his chair, reaching over to pick up the
case folder. "No blood, no bodies.. no money left over. No weapons.. not even a dusty
handprint."
"Sounds like these guys know almost exactly how to execute the perfect crimes, doesn't
it?" The older man smirks as Tristan begins to leaf through the papers and small pages
full of quickly written notes.
"You think they have inside connections, don't you?" Tristan can't help but offer the
other man a slight smile as he glances up to regard the man's expression.
"Aye. Somebody in the guard. Believed to be somebody of a high status and of the
Mysthaven Guard. Perhaps Lani Prai?"
"Perhaps.." Tristan gently sets the folder down. "This is what we'll do." He rises
from his chair, moving slowly around his desk, dark green eyes never leaving the older
man. "Get one of our own and send him to Mysthaven, undercover. I want him to follow
Lani Prai at all times.."
"But, Sir. If The Lord Marshall.."
"He won't find out. Just do as I say. maybe we could be the ones to cath the leader of
these thieves. Imagine.. The Guard Captain of Mysthaven.. arrested for robbery."
"I'll get right on it, Sir." The older man turns and walks out the door, leaving
Tristan alone.
Two hours later, just outside of Alcornal:
"Listen up." Tristan clears his throat as he unfolds the map in front of the four
men huddled around the small, round, wooden table. "These are the floor plans for the
Alcornal Royal bank. Small, and not heavily guarded." Green eyes light up as he raises
his head to regard the men. "Alcornal's guard will be on the lookout for a Mysthavian
badge. Now is the perfect time for a crime."
