Gerart Bromin looked up at the huge gates outside Plumwood Manor, the home of Dr.
Bloor. Behind them the manor was in sight. It looked like it might be two or three
stories high, made of a light cobblestone with terracotta shingles. It looked
pleasant enough, surrounded by piles of snow and covered with icicles.

A man stepped into view behind the gate, dressed in white with his face covered. He
had a pair of swords hanging on his belt, and the narrow portion of skin that shown on
his face was ghostly pale, and his eyes were pink. He was Teldanari. Bromin hadn't
seen a Teldanari man in years, not since Elluria's war with Tyranor.

"Who are you?" the Teldanari growled.

"Constable Gerart Bromin," Bromin announced in his best official voice, "Hale and
greetings. I've come to speak with Dr. Bloor."

The Teldanari stood still and silent for a few minutes, then nodded and approached the
gate. He produced a huge key and snapped the lock open, pulling the huge iron gate
open with a creak.

Bromin stepped inside and the Teldanari lead him up the road to the manor without
saying a word. It beats meaningless idle conversation, Bromin mused, fairly
entertained by all this grandeur.

At the front door of the manor stood a young lad dressed in red velvet, small and thin
with dark hair. He nodded to Bromin.

"This boy will take your horse," the Teldanari said.

Bromin dismounted and was lead into the front door. The boy lead his horse away and
out of sight as the door slammed behind them. The Teldanari lead him into the next
room, which had three leather couches and was surrounded by bookcases, a bar, and
decorated with artwork from all parts of the world.

"Dr. Bloor shall join you shortly," the Teldanari said in a rather unfriendly tone.
He exited and shut the door behind him. There was a click inside the door as the
Teldanari locked him in.

Bromin sighed and sat down on the couch.
