It was the Eleventh Hour of Hixa Vedek Eve, and Clen Thoran was soaring above the rooftops of Mysthaven, en route to the University. It was fairly easy for him to spot, it being the only open air structure near the foot of the Faceless Statue. He landed with a skid on the icy walkway around the university, entering the lecture hall. He had not been here before, not even during his human days.
It was vacant this time of year, he concluded, due to the weather, and the tents that usually covered the top of it had been taken down. It was full of snow and ice, but clen could make out a trio of large stairways leading down to the lecture floor, there were benches everywhere, most of which were nearly submerged in the snow. "In the basement," Clen repeated Benok's words. Either Benok was lying or there was some sort of secret door around him somewhere. He hadn't felt that Benok was being untruthful, and such feelings had more merit now than they had when he was human. He stepped down one of the stairways into the center of the lecture hall. He began to kick away the snow, searching the marble floor for any flaws. It was altogether smooth. Clen's vision grew red as he glanced upon the large stone table in front of him. He stormed over to it and dug the snow out from around it with his fingers. It seemed to be set on a slab of marble all its own, definagely seperate from the rest of the floor. He set his weight under the table and tried to lift it upwards. It budged a bit. Clen gritted his teeth and put all of his strength into it. He let out a loud grunt as he slowly tore the table and the slab under it out of the ground. The slab appeared to be only a foot or so thick, and he set it on the edge and pushed the heavy table away from the opening. Inside the hole, clen could see some sort of clockworks that most likely had opened the secret door via some sort of secret switch. But it was broken now. Clen shrugged and climbed down into the dark unknown. -- To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives & Other DMI Lists: http://www.dragonmyst.f2s.com/lists.php3
