MystHaven
~Two days ago ~

Noticing Otto the Swift, outside the stables in MystHaven just after Rue was
stripped of his Captaincy, the dark-haired man walked over slowly to the
messenger and long-distance runner he knew well enough.

"Can you get off your ass and run some missives for me, you flatfooted
slacker?" Rue attempted to joke, but thoughts of his two buried unborn
children sat heavy on his mind and he could not conjure the telltale Denali
grin.

With any luck, Otto followed Rue to Patton's general store, where Rue
quickly etched out several short missives in several locations around the
Isle, people he needed to contact immediately - like his father. He sealed
them with the common black wax at the counter, and then handed them to Otto.

Pulling out what coins he had in his pouch that hadn't fallen out when Andor
had carried him in to be charged, Rue handed them but one to Otto, giving
the last to the clerk for the parchment, ink and wax he used. "I've got the
rest of your fee up at Brookshire and you know I'm good for it. Come find me
there after you've reached Larmian. I'll be at The Hart Pub."

He figured it shouldn't take Otto longer than a few days to travel by ferry,
horse, or foot to those destinations. Rue leaned in close to Otto, his night
in jail had left him unclean and unshaven. "You may like to read on your
travels. But, read those, and I'll know, and I'll make sure you'll never be
able to read again."

A brief background on Rue Denali:

"It sounds cold, but it's not cold," he explains. "I mean, what the truth
in life is, you need failures, you need tough times to get any kind of
value on what's important to you and what's not. There's no way around it."
