OOC: Something to fill the quiet hours, relevant to Drache and Myst.

---------

It was a hard life fishing the Phalthion coastline and Sebbesto was grateful
he had four strong sons to help him with the catch. They had set out at dawn
to fish the oceans off the coastline of their home, wrapped protectively in
huge sheepskin coats and pants, thick leather gloves covering their hands
against the conditions of extreme cold. Like great woolly bears they were,
covered from head to foot in thick clothing and heavy boots.

The Phalthion sea was the coldest sea in existance with huge mountainous
icebergs that floated magestically on the frigid surface. As Sebbesto
expertly steered the boat between two such mighty ice rocks, always aware
that the ocean could send them crashing into each other and so crushing the
boat, a cry went up from Asser, his youngest son, at fifteen he was already
as tall and almost as broad as his brothers. Asser's strong gloved fingers
gripped the rope which held the net over the side of the fishing boat. His
brother Jaled, nineteen and easily the most handsome of the four with curly
black hair and sea green eyes, came across the deck to help him pull the
catch up. Saltair the eldest gripped the net that Asser was clinging to, he
was the brawniest brother, a strong man a head taller than his father at
twenty five. They heaved the net from the heavy pull of the icy waters as
Dasre, Saltair's younger by two years, held the rudder firm and peered
curiously across the deck as his family pulled up the heavy catch.

"Do you think it might be shark father?" Dasre called up to Sebbesto whose
eyes were as ever on the dangers of the frozen seas.

"Always possible, my son," he responded, "But if it is dolphin, hearty meal
or not, you know it must be thrown back. We do not eat the friend of the
fisherman."

"I know father .. but we haven't had a decent catch for weeks, would one
matter so very much to feed our hunger?"

A gasp brought Dasre's eyes to his brothers at the net once more as they
crowded around the catch. He craned his neck to see but couldn't fit his
gaze between the rock wall of their combined bodies to see what they had
brought up from the depths of the ocean. He could only hope that it was a
great catch, or perhaps some treasure that the ocean might have offered up
to them in its mercy. He offered a silent prayer to the gods of the sea
which the fishermen worshipped devoutly, hoping for a blessing from the nets
rather than a curse. There was a soft wet thump as the catch landed fully on
the wooden deck and was unrolled from the net.

"She's so beautiful," whispered Saltair.

"And dead," Asser pointed out sadly. "I wonder how she came to be given to
the ocean and why she isn't bloated like a normal drowning."

"Gods, she's alive!" cried Jaled. "Quick, fetch something to warm her."

"No," she whispered, her voice a husky command. "Don't do that at all."

The brothers parted their wall of brawn for a moment to give the craning
Dasre his first glimpse of the beauty they had caught in their nets. She was
perfectly formed and naked, her skin tinged with blue and her long hair
silvered which was strange for a woman as young and vibrant as her form
indicated, surely it was old women who had silvered hair? Dasre shivered
against the sudden chill that coursed his spine as he met her gaze, strange
movement in her eyes made it seem as if a snowstorm raged in the darkness of
their depths. The air was bitter, Dasre's breath steaming as he exhaled and
yet she seemed happy so naked in the extreme cold. Her lips curved into a
hint of a sultry smile as she looked around the faces of the father and
brothers.

"Perhaps a cold bath was what I needed," she murmered. "Is there always such
a bitter cold in this land?"

"Yes," breathed Saltair, a shaking hand outstretched impudently to touch the
curve of her naked breast, as if to test if she was real.

"Then I shall spend the Spring and Summer here and regain my strength to
return to my sister's Forest, the city of Drache and Myst when Autumn leads
into Winter, and they shall lament my coming," she told them, one ice talon
tracing the line of Saltair's cheek and swaying towards him, lips parted as
if she would kiss him. "You may remove your clothing, none of you will
needing covering during the coming months." She laughed softly as her teeth
sank into the soft flesh of Saltair's face and a hand pressed against his
chest, cold burning the imprint of her palm and fingers through his thick
clothing and onto his flesh for eternity, giving him her Blight.
