Kris lay in the back of the smithy, her large muscular arms tucked beneath the
back of her head as she watched the dawn slowly creep through the cracks in the
boards. It was still quite warm in here and she knew that she'd welcome the
forge's heat when winter came to the Isles, but right now, she couldn't stand it
any longer. Pushing to her feet with an easy grace despite her size, she walked
past the forge which eyed her with accusing eyes and out into the muggy morning.

The smithy was quickly left behind as she made her way out of Brookshire itself
toward the stream fed pond that the locals used often on hot days. Once in the
tree's she stripped quickly. She'd come to terms with her overly large body, and
the fact that she intimidated most men. It didn't bother her as much these days
as it used to. She was much more secure in her relationship with Paladine now,
though she still worried that she'd yet to receive her first Quest in His name.

Though seeing the gaunt man Rue the night before and overhearing the discussion
between him and the two women he seemed concerned about made her wonder. While
she'd been healing the young woman Carine, she'd sensed an evil .. diluted of
course, but present, and surrounding the man Rue like some loathsome cloud.

She wasn't quite sure what to do, so she'd prayed most of the night, seeking
answers. The people of the Isles were badly equipped to deal with any type of
real evil. A trusting and rural community, not that much different than the one
she'd grown up in. It's why she'd settled in Brookshire after leaving Drache.
Why she'd put away her tabard and claymore was another matter she wasn't ready
to dwell on just yet, and the thought of actually picking them up again gave her
pause, but Paladine's wise understanding helped.

She stepped into the cool water and sighed in pleasure. Large hands reached
upwards to undo the crown of dark braids atop her head, letting the long black
hair trail in thick kinks down her back. Perhaps it was time to question the
young woman Carine, offer Paladines aid and wisdom, and look more deeply into
this problem she sensed so close to her new home. Smiling she closed her eyes
and disappeared beneath the smooth waters of the pond.
