Loreli sat curled up on the bed, listening to how quiet the castle was this late .. or early. Things were going rather quickly from bad to worse. Not with her .. not unless you saw not being able to sleep as bad. No, she meant Janessa.
Charlena. She could have killed Janessa. Likely would at some point, and she could understand Corvarath's anger, even rage .. or would have .. except he'd come to pay -her- a visit, to inquire as to how she was doing after the ghosts little prank. She hadn't known quite how to act. She'd always harbored suspicions about Corvarath. Not exactly about him, but about his family. The Alesian people as a whole tended to be humorless, hard drinking opportunists. But also highly dedicated. And Corvarath did Love Janessa, and in the end, that was something. She sipped at the half glass of rockscotch, already into her third glass. No more than that, no matter how much she wanted. She had duties in the morning that a head softened by scotch would not help with. But for a moment she stared into the glass, wishing she could fall into it's blurry depths and not surface again until all had been forgotten. Or at least until she could fall asleep without waking an hour later, her heart slamming against hr chest, the overwhelming copper smell of blood in her nose. The sun would be up soon enough, and then she would forget about sleep again, and nightmares, of being in a room she wasn't familiar nor comfortable with, though she knew she couldn't stay in her old one, she missed the comforting wrap of the familiar. Loreli lifted the glass to her lips and drained it, then rose and walked over to the window. Gone was her charming balcony that eventually led up to the royal one. Oh how many times she had thought to sneak that way past the healers and see her friend who she was desperately worried about. The ghost was stepping up the game. Her only thought was that she'd attack Corvarath again .. or her. But that would a bit harder to do now that the Druidess Syndre had come around and weaved a bit of her magic and soothing charm. People still talked .. some even still tried to coddle her and squeeze every bit from her about what happened, but she'd cut that down the day after when she'd gone back to her duties. It was life as usual .. except for the waiting game over Janessa. Even the healers said the longer she stayed asleep .. but even that was not a problem any more .. for she'd woken sometime last night, though Loreli had yet to see her. There were so many others that needed the reassurance that she was alive. And others that needed their tongues to be forcibly stilled. Even after all that had happened, rumor and innuendo still whispered themselves in dark corners. No, all was not well at the castle, but she would see that it gave that impression. Turning away from the window, she walked to the wardrobe and chose her dress for the day. *~*~*~*~* Jax -- #Dragonmyst*inn and #RPGWorks channel operator.
