Mike,

Most PEP reading watt meters for amateur use use "sample and hold" circuits usually consisting of an op amp and support circuitry. The cap idea is not very accurate or mathematically correct for a true PEP report.

There is available thru a source called HI-RES Commnications, Inc., a kit that can be built and added to the W4 or other meters to allow it to report PEP output. Go to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" for info. I have built and installed several of these and they work well and they are inexpensive.

Can anyone help me to "properly" modify my W4 wattmeter to read "PEP"??

I have seen references to peak reading W4's and would like to modify mine to do the same.

I wouldn't think there'd be much to it...just a cap to hold peak voltage long enough for the meter movement to respond before the voltage decays away through the meter.
