Thanks to those who responded. It appears that some were totally shielded and some where partially shielded and maybe some where not shielded at all. It would be interesting to see what the ratio of the three configurations is.
In any case, it appears that the totally shielded configuration is a Drake conception made up of three separate pieces soldered together. I wonder if it ever evolved to a single piece construction.
Thanks again for the responses and I would like more on the shielding configurations if you would like to contribute your findings.
