We are producing rack mount kits for several popular radios, mostly Icom, but soon the Collins S line and some Kenwood & Yaesu. It has been brought to our attention that there may be a potential market for Drake 4 series rack mount kits. We have gone through the Drake site and checked the dimensions of each of the Drakes. Looks like all units are 5.5"H by 10.75"W except the VFOs that are listed as 5.375"H. (That�s only 1/8" difference) To produce these rack mounts, in the most cost effective way, we need to make at least 50 each and usually 100 each of the same design. Our metal master has everything under computer control and the design is CAD. There is no hand punching or cutting on these rack mounts. We would appreciate inputs from those interested in rack mounting their radios and accessories. Our design would be similar to our Icom R746 design (here is a eBay auction to give you some details of what we are doing http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3048985691 ). Construction is Paintlok steel shelves and Aluminum front panels. We would offer two version, one with a speaker and one w/o speaker.Any ideas what to do about the side controls on some of the Drake radios?
