<snip>
Has anyone else in the Chicago area noticed the
digital signal on both sides of WIND 560? If that is the kind of
interference that broadband is going to make uh oh!!!!
Dan <snip>
Dan, I am
located in Chicago's South suburbs about 15 miles due West from WIND's
transmitter/towers located in Northwest Indiana.
I have
listened 3000 Hz from their center frequency with a 300 Hz bandwidth
filter in CW mode and cannot hear anything but their normal modulation. I
also listened 10 kHz with a 2.3 kHz filter with the same
results. The antenna is a K9AY and WIND's signal level was in the
neighborhood of 40 over S9. I re-ran the tests with the K9AY pointed away
from WIND and with an additional 20 dB attenuation in the feedline with the same
results.
From my
perspective, WIND is clean, and there were no other signals
heard 10 kHz from their carrier.
Due to the large
number of 50 KW AMBCB signals in the Chicagoland area, I suggest you try
some attenuation and/or a directional antenna so to eliminate Rx overload as a
possible explanation.
If you want to
pursue this further, let me know.
Joe,
K9HDE
PS From
what I understand the lowest frequency broadband will use is 1.7
mHz.
