We owned one at the Seminary Club station years ago and despite the fish odor (it was donated by a guy who had it in his sailboat on an around-the-world trip) I fell in love with it.
I have owned three of them over the years, financial challenges forcing me to sell the first two. The latest is on a bench being readied for use!
As for the lamps, were I contemplating a replacement I would only use LEDs ... a fraction of the heat (thus a fraction of the contribution to drift).
