Here briefly, is our time frame for conversion of T4XC to the 6146 series. Now have all the parts for the conversion, except the sockets. Am preparing a precisely calibrated tube tester (Mil TV2/BU), with plate current auxiliary digital meter, to check out final candidates for the T4XC now. With family activities through most of late July and August, will begin the conversion in mid-September. Will keep the Drakenet posted on major points of progress by 3rd week in September. 1) Mechanical aspects of socket fit and issues in the conversion as they happen. Note that some 6293s are up to 1/4 inch taller than other 6146 series tubes, which require attention to fit issues in the T4XC. 2) Will have data on performance of original 6JB6s on each band for us to compare to performance of the 6146 series. 3) Have just acquired most brands of the 6146 series to compare performance on in September: Raytheon 6293s, RCA 6293s, RCA 6146Bs, Tung Sol 6146s, GE 6146Bs, GE 6146Ws.
