Patents are usurped every day. Furthermore, there are many patents issued for useless devices that have no practical application. Whenever I see the word "inventor" a red light comes on. No-one "invents" anything in the modern world. I don't think Bob Drake ever claimed to have "invented" the Drake 1-A receiver. He was the engineer who designed it. It takes a team to develop products. Even Dean Kamen, the so-called "inventor" of the Segway Human Transporter has a team of designers working for him. He directs them, points them in the direction he thinks they should be headed but he, in my opinion cannot claim to have "invented" it. But since he owns the company, he can claim anything he wants. I don't work for him (fortunately) but he is the landlord of the place where I work. Recently a so-called "inventor" contacted me at work. He wanted to demonstrate a temperature controller. Yawn! His business card seemed to emphasize the fact he is a PHD. OOOOH! Guess I was supposed to be awestruck and be reeled in like a fish. The good Doctor wanted me to sign non-disclosure agreements without even giving me a synopsis of what he was going to show me. Potentially, anything that was discussed in the meeting would have been subjected to secrecy. I hate lawyers and the people who hide behind them. Told him I didn't have time, in other words, told him to hit the road! I think Queen Victoria said best when she said "We are not amused".
