Shouldn't - it? Did you check? If the whole LO aggregate is indeed working ( VFO, Xtal oscillator, pre-mixer)- check every stage there , it might be the first rx-mixer which is dead...Could be an electrostatic discharge or so coming from your Counter...also unlikely as those tubes are rather resistant ( their advantage over solid-state!). May an aging component shot there?
