My question has been
answered in the past, I think, but I didn't note it then. I have noticed that
the idling current on my T4XC rises while in CW mode and sending for more than a
couple of minutes. Clearly heat related, I think. Neither output power nor
signal change, but between characters the plate current rises from about 100 or
110 mils to about 180 mils during the course of a long
transmission.
I have a fan on the
rig, blowing out, and it stays cool to the touch. I have replaced the AC4's
aged components with the board from the Heathkit Shop. I don't see this same
phenomena on phone, but suspect the rig runs cooler on phone with the lower duty
cycle.
So, my questions
are: is this typical behavior? Is there reason for concern? Where might I look
for causes?
