First, I must apologize for not writing back sooner. I hesitated in my response to try to come up with a knowledgeable answer and have found myself engrossed in repairing my T-4XC transmitter, which I have just about finished.
After studying the manual, I believe you should start by checking the voltage of each power supply. There are supplies providing 150 and 12 volts, as well as a negative bias supply. Also check your AGC circuits, which serve to bias V1, V3 and V5 "off." If I understand section 4-7 of the manual, you should get about -40 volts on the AGC line when in mute or standby modes.
What does the radio do when you switch the AGC off?
Please post your questions to the drakelist also. There are guys on there who know much more how to troubleshoot this radio.
