Something is not as it seems! If you really have 200W input and only 50W output you would have VERY red plates on the 6JB6's. Have you checked the plate voltage? Should be 650VDC under load.

Hi Garey,

Actually, I tune in this way.. and the meter shows exactly 300-320 milliampere.. exactly the same values as the manual states.. something like 200 watts input.. but when I measure the actual watts with an external watt meter, I just see 50 watts average..

Bests,

Frank

First try to adjust the Gain, Tune and Load controls for maximum output in the Tune position, regardless of indicated plate current. The plate current meter shunt in these transmitters tends to go up in value over time, resulting in the meter reading much lower than actual plate current.

Hi everybody,

I found that my T-4XB delivers only 50 watt of average power measured on a calibrated instrument in the TUNE mode.

Tubes are Westinghouse brand new, neutralized and aligned. They draw not less that 0.3-0.32 Amperes after tuning in all bands. All the other tubes are also new. What could it be? Could it be the carrier balance to be adjusted?
