The TR-7 had an internal wire jumper connecting those two jacks from the factory. It must be cut to use the transceiver with an external receiver, and you either have to replace the internal jumper or use an external one.

I have a TR7 that requires a jumper cable between the external antenna and external receiver RCA jacks on the back panel. Without the patch cable it sounds like the main antenna input is not connected to the radio. With the cable in place everything works properly. Is anyone familiar with this problem?
