Recently I bought a Drake SPR-4 with Serial no
1265.
I have a German book named "Oldie KW-Empfänger". In
this book is a test report for the Drake receiver. The author mentions that you
can modify the radio so you can choose the bandwidth with a knob on the back of
the radio. You loosen the shaft of the Mode switch, take it out and saw it
off at the right place. So you let one part, that for the bandwidth, come out at
the back of the radio, place a knob on it and then you can switch between the
three positions. The other part goes as before out on the front
side.
My question is now:
Is it the "deck" just in front of the four
Bandfilter coils that determins the bandwidth? This must be "the right place",
it must be here that I shall saw the shaft, is it so ?? Or, is there
a better way ?
