Hello All,
Over the past several weeks I have been carefully cleaning a Drake TR7 and PS7 that was given to me by the XYL of an OM that is now in a hospice home. After large amounts of compressed air, hospital-grade alcohol and Q-tips...., I powered it up tonite.
Whereas this is my first TR7, I have questions:
1. When the CAL switch is engaged, the relatively quiet rx JUMPS to life with all sort of signals, in between the calibration tones, almost to imply that the switch is disfunctional or.......???
2. The dial seems to be grossly out of calibration; correction (to this great extent) is not covered in the operators manual. This radio is MARS modified. Any suggestions here?
3. I do not have a mic wired up yet to test audio, but I have keyed it into a dummyload (CW)....the Bird states 155 watts on 14.100....should this be this high? Or has somebody cranked it beyond it's means?
4. Any other tidbits would be appreciated, please send direct.
Thanks & 73,
Trent
