If any of you has a PS-7 cover with the "sticky" paint, this may be the source of your smell, especially when the supply is warm. I have had several of these over the years and thay have different smells.
Take the cover off and get it away from the supply and take a good strong whiff. If it smells, have it bead blasted and repainted.
