I've learned a bit more since asking the question. The Misty Hollow unit
for the TR7 is $475. If you use that unit, you lose use of your RIT on the
TR7. You can, however, operate the new VFO in split mode so you can get RIT
function that way.
The Woodbox VFO includes circuitry to sense transmit mode in the TR7, and so
it has RIT capability without running split. The physical design of the
Woodbox unit is much more pleasing to the eye and matches the TR7 pretty
well in panel design and proportion. I've not received any reply from them
to two different emails asking about price and availability, so don't know
if they're still in business or not! They also have a VFO that matches the
4 line in appearance, right down to the tuning knob.
