[EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Trying to trouble shoot my TR7 woes, and I think I've gotten it down to:
1. The mixer on the PBT board 2. The NB7 board 3. The IF Filter board. Note that this has to this point been largely a paper evaluation. I do have the top off, but that has just been for unseating/reseating boards. Here are the symptoms: No matter the band, no matter the mode, when in receive mode, rather than the nice audio I usually hear, it is very 'narrow', high pitched and I receive no signals. This problem goes away in only two situations: one, when the PBT is activated and/or two: when the IF filter is in the widest position. No other switches affect this. The digital display in uneffected, the 25kHz calibrator is operational, and this unit has 'filters' in all positions. I say 'filters' because one is an unlablelled silver colored box, unlike the labelled silver colored boxes that take up the othe positions. My thinking is, the oscillators on the PBT are running fine, but there may be something up with the mixer that sends RF to the second IF mixer. Also, with the NB7 board, the service manual is unclear [or I haven't read it carefully enough] about how IF switching is done in the absence of the IF switching board [whose space the NB7 occupies]. So, folks, any thoughts?
