I don't know what Drake originally supplied, but I would guess it was a
piece of (possibly low capacity) microphone cable, which is about half
the capacity of RG-58. The manual says the original cable is 20" long,
indicating that they were at least somewhat concerned about the shunt
capacity. The output is from an emitter follower stage with a source
impedance of about 300 ohms, so I wouldn't think it would be that
susceptible to shunt capacity. Obviously any signal loss from shunt
capacity would become more of a problem at the higher bands as you get
up to 40.6 MHz.
Apparently your RG-58 is working, although it is a little stiff compared
to mike cable, so I wouldn't worry too much. Any possible problems
would probably show as reduced sensitivity on the higher bands, but I
doubt you'll see a difference. Just keep the cable as short as possible.
