Craig Roberts <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang

Speaking of the MRF276 -- I was lucky enough to get a couple for the sake of insurance, BUT, I would like to perform the mod that lifts the emitter of this device off ground with a three 8 ohm resistor bundle. This will, I hope, obviate the need for my transistor spares. It looks as if the PA Module, including the driver board, heat sink, etc., is removed and replaced as a unit and is held in place by the side panel screws. Is this so? I cannot find disassembly instructions for the TR-7 anywhere, except on accessory installation instruction sheets.

Are there any other "highly recommended" mods I should perform? The only complaint I have is with the excessive amount of VOX Gain needed to trip the relay, and that's hardly a serious matter.

I note that there are two suggested mods to shorten the ALC decay time. One is to change C1618 from 1M to 470K. The other is to add an 82K ohm resistor from the cathode of CR1603 to ground. Are these mods desirable? Is one or the other preferable? Does either mod (or both) adversely affect the transmitted audio quality? I've been getting consistent compliments on audio from my TR-7 / Heil Classic mike combo and don't wish to comromise the quality.

Many thanks, as always,

73,

Craig
