Floyd,
Make sure diode CR2203 is good. Its job is to warm up and keep the bias
in check. The only time I have had the problem you describe is whenever I
replace a bad MRF476 with a NTE235. I have had to change resistor R2202 to
560 ohms or more to lower the bias. Its also possible the MRF476 transistor
is bad. I have had this happen to higher power RF transistors.They will get
very hot because of leakage.
