Hello Gurus,
I'm finishing up a second (backup) TR-7 and have run into an alignment
glitch. The most I can crank out of this rig is about 115-120 Watts.
That, in itself, doesn't bother me, but there's no "headroom" beyond
that . The other rig -- though aligned at 125 Watts on 20 meters -- is
capable of well over 200 Watts.
Is this indicative of the infamous PIN diode problem? The transceiver
seems fine in other respects -- though the receiver seems to be a bit
noisy.
Also, for full output, what's a normal carrier control setting?. This
rig doesn't achieve maximum until the control cranked up to between 12
and about 2 o'clock or a little higher, depending upon the band.
