"W7RY" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Is there voltage on the tube? If the tube is shorted, the series dropping resistor will be quite warm!
When you remove the tube, what is the voltage at the + tube pin? 73 Jim W7RY -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Steve Berg Sent: Monday, December 26, 2005 12:21 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [drakelist] VR Tube Failure Steve Berg <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This is only tangentially related to Drakes since it concerns a Hallicrafters TO keyer, but perhaps someone here on the list can give me some ideas. It appears that the OB2 VR tube has gone to its ancestors. The OA2 seems to be fine, but the appearance of the former is darkened and shows signs of heat. Is there a failure mode for these tubes? In 40+ years of using tube equipment, I have never seen one of these quit before. I have checked out the other components, and nothing else appears to be burned. I do not yet have another OB2 to put in there to test it out. 73, Steve WA9JML ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Submissions: [email protected] Unsubscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Submissions: [email protected] Unsubscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net ----------------------------------------------------------------------
