My newly acquired amp pops a breaker a second or two after
power-up. (it is the breaker
nearest to the power cable in the PS.)
Do I have a shorted filament transformer? The filament transformer in the amp gets very warm, and the breaker
pops even when the tubes are removed. Resistances for the two primary windings
are about 2.1 and 2.3 ohms; and resistance across both windings is about 2.4
ohms even when the jumper for 240 volts is removed, (which appears to
disconnect the first winding from the second). The secondary winding for the filament shows 0.6 ohms
measured at the tube sockets when tubes are removed. There are no signs of heat on the relay board. The tubes check OK for grid to filament
shorts. If it is the transformer, does the group have advice for a
source? Thanks in advance for your guidance. 73, Dale AE0S Dale Huffington [EMAIL PROTECTED] |
