Hi Doug, Tarnishing of silver plated tank coils, switch contacts and other plated items is normal. Unless you live in a sealed, environmentally controlled room, there is nothing you can do about it. If you feel that you have to clean the parts, only use a high quality silver polish that contains NO abrasives. Do not use anything like Tar-Nex. There are also polish impregnated cloths that can be had at fine silverwear stores. Whatever you do, do it extremely carefully, and of course, be sure that all HV circuits have been discharged and the primary power disconnected before beginning.
My advice is to leave it alone as long as it is working. You may wind up with shiny components and a non working rig due to something you messed up while cleaning. The old addage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies here! 73, John, W4AWM
