The 2-NT sidetone is a high-Z, low level signal, and is incompatible
with the R-4C. It would be possible to add a phono jack in one of the
spare holes on the R-4C and run a shielded lead to the input of the AF
stages of the R-4C. This would be an easily done and reversible mod to
the receiver.
Alternatively, the Sidetone output of the 2-NT could be run to a small
audio amp and speaker. Any small amp, external PC "amplified speaker"
would work fine.
