I had an R-4 with serial number 0065. I purchased the receiver in the 1964-1965 timeframe from, of all places, Olsen Electronics when I worked for the company part time while attending college. The Akron, OH (main) store carried some ham gear. I think I paid ~$325 for the brand new unit.
