Bent -

BOTH are 'standard' relays in TR-4C transmitters. The Varley is prone to open coil syndrome because of the extremely fine wire needed to achieve that high resistance. As long as it works, there's nothing wrong with using it.

The P& B is much more reliable, primarily due to the larger wire used in the coil. Changing from the Varley to the P & B requires the addition of a 1.5k, 1W resistor as shown in the attached sheet from my CD.

The P & B is available from Mouser, Digikey, Newark, etc., about $25.

Hello
In the Part List for the TR-4C(w) K1 is defined as a P&B R10-E10-Y4-V2.5k.
In a TR-4C which I have bought, but not yet powered up, is placed a Varley VP4,
CAB/120, 15000ohm.
Are someone able to inform me whether it can be used as a substitute, or it is completely wrong for this purpuse ?
Where is it possible to buy the P&B R10-E10-Y4-V2.5k ?
Thanks in advance.
